Don’t miss the November–December issue of timbrel: women in conversation together with God which focuses on how we celebrate traditions by working to keep the focus on that which is truly important to us as Mennonite women. For this issue, I asked Sara Wenger Shenk, Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Christian Practices at Eastern Mennonite Seminary, Harrisonburg, Virginia to revisit her book Why Not Celebrate! now that her children are no longer small but young adults. Maria De Leon, chair of MCC Central States Board, writes about the ways South Texas Mexican-Americans celebrate various holidays incorporating the Mexican culture, American culture, and Christianity with the values they hold dear. Joyce Suter, a nurse from Pandora, Ohio, writes about the ways we can de-stress our intense holiday activities.

“I have been blessed by the writings and the honesty of this magazine.
It touches the heart and soul of all women, Mennonite or not.” – note from a reader

As Miriam raised her timbrel in celebration at the crossing of the Red Sea, so in timbrel women today share in all these ways how God has moved in their lives. Through thought-provoking words, images and dialogue, you’ll be encouraged to grow in your daily walk with God and your friendships with other women.

Our mission: timbrel connects today’s Mennonite women in all our diversity by sharing our stories and perspectives. By encouraging each other, we seek to walk more closely with God and to show greater love for self and neighbors near and far.
